After numerous spy shots MG Motors has finally revealed its new mini electric car. It is known as the Comet EV. The car will go on sale in mid-2023 by starting a new body segment altogether. The Indian market haven’t seen such type of compact car yet and that too in electric form. The MG Comet is an ideal car for city use that offers easy maneuvering in traffic as it measures just 2.9 metres in length.
MG Comet EV – Range & Specs
The smallest car that went on sale in India was the Tata Nano with 3,099mm length. MG Comet is even smaller than the Tata Nano. It gets a length of 2.9 metres and wheelbase of 2,010 mm. The car looks boxy from all front and it is completely based on Wuling Air EV that’s on sale in Indonesia.
The Indian model is not different from the Indonesian model. It gets dual-tone finish at front and LED stripe that touches both rear view mirrors. Main headlight setup is downwards just like we see in every modern car these days. Small wheels gives the Comet EV a urban look. It is likely that the Comet EV will get a range of 200 km to 300 km which is good for city use.
A 10.25-inch dual touchscreen is expected on the Comet EV interior. Other features on the car includes connected technology, dual-tone interior, voice commands, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. MG Motors could also offer a sunroof and that makes the Comet really interesting electric vehicle. Despite being a small car it is high on features.
MG Comet Price & Rivals
The Comet EV could be priced between ₹9 lakh to ₹11 lakh if we go as per reports. If this is true then the car will rival Tiago EV and recently launched Citroen eC3 in its segment. MG motors is targeting 60% locally assembly of the Comet electric vehicle to keep prices in check. How MG prices it that remains to be seen.
