There’s a new electric scooter in town known as the River Indie. This scooter is from a Bengaluru based startup River. Earlier we saw Ather from the same city launching Ather 450X electric scooter. As compared to Ather 450X the River Indie electric scooter gets really bold design language. Let’s take a close look at it.
River Indie Electric Scooter – Price & Features
The River Indie is priced at ₹1.25 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available in 3 colours – Spring Yellow, Monsoon Blue and Summer Red. As compared to any other e-scooter in the market the River Indie offers hell lot of practicality. The scooter gets huge 43-litres of boot space and 12-litre glove box at front that can even beat most of the ICE scooters in the market.
River has offered pannier mounts to expand the storage even more. River Indie is the India’s first electric scooter to get front footpegs with huge 14-inch wheels. Like most of electric scooters it gets LCD dashboard and full LED lights. Three ride modes – Eco, Ride and Rush is on offer here. According to the company the River Indie longest and widest seat than any other election scooters in its segment.
River Indie Electric Scooter – Battery & Range
The River Indie gets 4 kWh battery pack that offers 120 Km range. Battery here is IP67 rated which can be charged up to 80% in 5 hours via standard charger. Motor on the electric scooter delivers 6.7 kW of power and 26 Nm of torque to rear wheels via belt drive. This motor can propel the scooter from 0-40 km/h in just 3.9 sec while top speed is 90 km/h. River is providing 5 year/50, 000 km warranty on the battery pack.
For braking the scooter gets 240 mm front and 200 mm rear disc brakes with CBS (Combined Braking System). Seat height is at good 770 mm while ground clearance is 165 mm. Two ice cube like LED lights really give the River Indie a distinctive appeal over its rivals. In its segment the River Indie will rival Ola S1 Pro, Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube and Ather 450X and it is more affordable than all of them.
