On 2 March Honda launched the 2023 City sedan in India. The car now gets a new entry-level variants for both hybrid and petrol trim along with new Obsidian Blue shade. What makes the 2023 City really interesting is that now it gets ADAS. It is a segment first feature and upcoming 2023 Hyundai Verna will also get it. Honda is offering ADAS on City from V variant.
2023 Honda City V Variant With ADAS
The Honda City V variant starts from ₹12.37 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes the City the most affordable ADAS equipped car in India. Earlier Honda used to offer ADAS only on City’s hybrid variants but now it is available on petrol variants as well. The V variant on Honda City is the sedan’s 2nd base variant.
Before City it was MG Astor which offered ADAS at lowest price of ₹16.79 lakh (ex-showroom) in Savvy trim. Despite offering ADAS the V variant of Honda City undercuts it by massive ₹4.42 lakh with enough features on offer. ₹12.37 lakh price is for the City’s V manual variant, for CVT it is at ₹13.62 lakh which is still lower by ₹3.37 lakh as compared to the MG Astor Savvy trim.
Above images are of the Honda City V manual trim interior. The 8-inch infotainment can be seen here and Honda offers keyless entry, push button start, ADAS, paddle shifters, steering mounted controls etc on this variant. However it lacks on features like LED headlights, digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, sunroof, leatherette seats etc.
Despite being the 2nd base model the V variant of City doesn’t gave up on its premium trait. The sedan looks quite premium with enough features on offer. At ₹11.50 lakh one can go for the entry-level SV variant of the City while its top ZX petrol variant is priced at ₹14.72 lakh.
Honda offers 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine on the City. This engine puts out 121 BHP and 145 Nm with 6-speed manual and CVT gearbox options. At ₹18.89 lakh Honda City hybrid price starts at and it offers a supreme mileage of 26 km/l.
The biggest rival of Honda City is the upcoming 2023 Hyundai Verna scheduled to make its debut on March 21. Honda has played well with the City both in terms of pricing and features on each variant specially ADAS. It would be interesting to see how Hyundai decides the pricing of new Verna.
