BS6 Stage II Regulations

The discontinuation of Hyundai Creta turbo petrol came after BS6 Stage II norms. Also known as RDE (Real Driving Emission) norms it requires a vehicle to achieve emission targets in real world. It is highly unlikely that Hyundai will update the 1.4L Creta turbo petrol with new emission norms.

As of now the SUV is available in 1.5L petrol and 1.5L diesel engine only. The 1.5L petrol engine packs 113 BHP @ 6,300 rpm and 143.8 Nm @ 4,500 rpm. This engine is paired with 6-speed IVT transmission. On the other hand the 1.5L diesel engine puts out 114 BHP and 250 Nm at 4,000 rpm and 2,750 rpm respectively.

Both 1.5L petrol and diesel engines are now BS6 Stage II compliant and can run on E20 fuel (20% ethanol and 80% petrol). Apart from upgrading these two engines to RDE norms Hyundai has also added ISG (Integrated Starter Generator) and Idle Go Start function. The Idle Go Start function can boost fuel efficiency in heavy traffic.
