- In April month Maruti Suzuki will launch the Fronx in the Indian market and CNG variant is likely to be available right from the start
- In Pune the CNG variant of the Fronx has been spied with emission testing kit hinting imminent launch of the SUV
Maruti Suzuki holds more than 70% market share in the CNG powered car market. With Arena the brand also offers CNG variants in its Nexa lineup. Following Baleno, XL6 and Grand Vitara the next CNG model to retail via Nexa outlet is the Fronx SUV. Recently in Pune Fronx CNG variant was spied with emission testing kit.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx CNG Specifications
The CNG variant of the Fronx will get 1.2-litre K-series engine that packs 89.73 PS and 113 Nm in petrol variant. Of course in CNG variant power output will be lower. In transmission too the CNG variant will get 5-speed manual transmission only unlike the petrol variant which also gets 5-speed automatic transmission.
CNG vehicles of Maruti Suzuki are quite efficient. We can expect higher efficiency than Grand Vitara CNG in Fronx CNG whose mileage stands at 26.6 km/kg. As Maruti Fronx is based on Baleno we can expect at least 30 km/kg in the CNG variant of the Fronx. Meanwhile Baleno CNG delivers a good fuel efficiency of 30.61 km/kg.
Maruti Suzuki also offers 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine in the Fronx. This engine puts out 100 PS and 147.6 Nm in regular petrol variant. It is unlikely that Maruti Suzuki will offer CNG with this engine. The CNG variant of the Fronx will get Maruti’s S-CNG technology which is best in the market.
Maruti Fronx CNG Features
Features list on Fronx CNG will be similar to its petrol variants. Maruti may offer CNG with Delta and Delta+ trims. Key features here will include same LED reflector headlamps, alloy wheels, LED DRLs, ORVMs etc.
Interior will get 7-inch touchscreen infotainment, dual-tone finish, start/stop button, automatic climate control like we see on Delta and Delta+ variants of the Fronx. Safety features too will be as similar.
